大噶好！欢迎来到夏天！！！开心吗？夏天除了阳光与沙滩，就是我们常挂在嘴边的“好热！好热！！好热！！！”了吧？！ 同学们又会怎么样用英语表达天气“好热”呢？是“I am hot”吗？
说出“I am hot”的同学，就错啦~
hot一词作形容词时可翻译为：adj. 热的；辣的；热情的；性感的；激动的；
最常用来形容：1. 天气热、2. 人性感火辣、3. 食物烫/辣
因此，“I am hot”是“我很性感I am sexy”，如果同学们想表达天气很热，应该说“I feel hot”、“It’s hot” 、“The weather is so hot”、“The temperature is too high” 或 “I am nearly melting 我都快被热化了”。
也可以用“热到出汗”来表达：“I am in a hot sweat”、 “I am sweating buckets 我的汗一桶桶地流”、 “I am bathing in sweat 或 I am soaked in sweat我已经汗流浃背”。（另：sweat 也可表示“担心，焦虑” ）
但是，光一个 “hot”真是不足够表达又闷又热的天气，还有什么腻害的词组可以表达“热到爆炸”呢？
表示不通风，不潮湿，闷热、干热dry heat:
*stifling ['staɪf(ə)lɪŋ] adj. 令人窒息的；沉闷的
stifling heat / stiflingly hot weather闷热的天气
The stifling heat is driving me crazy.
表示不通风，潮湿，使人易流汗（湿热）：
*muggy ['mʌgɪ] adj. 闷热的；湿热的
*sultry ['sʌltrɪ] adj. 闷热的；湿热的
We can expect muggy / sultry conditions when the rainy season begins.
只表示热，不存在空气流通或潮湿与否
1. hot
It’s super/extremely/ridiculously/crazy hot out there!
*ridiculously [ri'dikjuləsli] adv. 可笑地；荒谬地
2.burning ['bɜːnɪŋ] adj. 燃烧的；强烈的；发热的
The day is burning.
The burning hot weather is torturous.
Today is a thermometer breaker! I am burning!
3.blazing ['bleɪzɪŋ] adj. 燃烧的，像火焰般的 adv. 非常
He jumped into water on a blazing August afternoon.
4.blistering ['blɪstərɪŋ] adj. 烫伤；极度高温
We are brave enough to travel to Africa on these blistering summer days.
5.boiling ['bɒɪlɪŋ] adj. 像水沸腾般热的
It’s boiling (hot) out there.
I am under a boiling sun.
6.roasting ['rostɪŋ] adj. 烤焦的；灼热的
baking ['beɪkɪŋ] adj. 烤焦的
parch [pɑːtʃ] vt. 烤，烘；使干透 vi. 焦干；烤干
I am roasting / baking in the sun!
It’s a baking hot day. / It's roasting out there!
The road parched up with dry heat weather.
7.scorching ['skɔːtʃɪŋ] adj. 烈日当空；形容三伏天正午的毒太阳
scorcher ['skɔːtʃə] n. 大热天
It’s a real scorcher today!
He feels a little sluggish on such a scorching hot day and just wants to stay in the hotel.
8.smotheringly ['smʌðəli] adv. 令人窒息地
On these smotheringly hot days, someone suffering heatstroke /sunstroke requires immediate medical attention.
9.sweltering ['swelt(ə)rɪŋ] adj. 闷热的；热得难受的；热得快溶化的
It’s sweltering outside. Why don’t we stay inside an air-conditioned room to escape the heat?
10.sticky ['stɪkɪ] adj. 粘的；闷热的；湿热的
It’s sticky outside. I am literally dying.
11.torrid ['tɒrɪd] adj. 晒热的；灼热的；炎热的
torrid zone n. 热带
On unbearably torrid days, you can get pleasure from swimming.
12.inferno [ɪn'fɜːnəʊ] n. 地狱之火；熊熊大火；火海
It’s as hot as the inferno.
13.on fire adv. 着火；起火
It’s as if it’s on fire.
It's raining fire!
*sb’s on fire （需要根据语境判断意思）
a. 正燃烧着（一般是指内在，心情，精神等）
He is on fire! 他爆发了！他很牛！
b. 在兴头上；非常激动
He is on fire! 他很生气！
另外，形容室内闷热，我们可以用…
sauna ['sɔːnə] n. 桑拿浴；蒸汽浴
oven [ˈʌv(ə)n] n. 炉，灶；烤炉
It's an oven in here. / It feels like an oven inside.
It’s like a sauna in here.
