托福口语 | 如果外星人来了会怎样

“If aliens visit us, the outcome would be much as when Columbus landed in America, which didn't turn out well for the Native Americans. ”如果外星人造访地球，结局可能和哥伦布发现美洲大陆一样，后者对于当时的美洲原住 民来说可不是个好事。

这是著 名的英国天文物理学家霍金教授的预言，里面涉及到一个较难的语法点 –虚拟语气。当需要谈论一些想象的不太可能在现实中发生的事情时候会用到。比如 If you could interview one celebrity, what would you ask him or her?

这类假设性问题的语法构成通常为 If + sub. +过去分词，then sub. would do.... 或If I could choose ...., it would have to be .....because.... .或If I could ..... I would probably......

除了以上新航道老师说的句型，其他表示假如的短语还有If only 意思是“要是，但愿”，在语境里可以这样使用，比如“If only I were rich. 但愿我很富有。 ”或者 “If only I had known you then,' he said wistfully.”要是我那时认识你就好了。” 他向往地说道。

托福口语话题能用到以上有趣的短语和句型吗?当然是在讨论假设性问题的时候了。比如有这样一个问题:“ Do you agree or disagree with this statement: if only people need to pass certain exams, they could be parents.”如果需要考试通过才能为人父母，你同意吗?

这是个对大多数学生都陌生的话题，因为大多学生都没有为人父母的经历，需要凭想象来回答。理由其实很容易想到，成为父母需要爱心，责任心，耐心等道德和品质。如果不具备这些品质就生了孩子，恐怕对孩子来说不是好事情。

I can’t agree with this opinion more. I’m convinced that people should prove that they have kindness, sense of responsibility and ability to take care of baby before they give birth to baby.

One Japanese writer once said wistfully: “If there were certain exams to estimate parent’s qualities and abilities, it would turn out well for their babies.” Child should be kept by someone who is kind, patient and responsible. If someone were not responsible, reliable and strong, he or she might not be a good parent. It wouldn’t turn out well for child to live with such parents.

Therefore, I agree that if only people need to pass exam, they could become parents.
